Mercury 2050 – Pitch for hour long show

Mike Steel, an L.A. homicide cop in the year 2050, while investigating the murder of a genius computer program designer, discovers that a virtual reality amusement park called MERCURY, which has become the most popular form of entertainment, is actually a front for a group of anonymous conspirators who use MERCURY to plot political assassinations, mass murder, and global manipulation. Steel’s attempts to shut MERCURY down bring such pressure to bear on the L.A.P.D. that he is punished by his superiors. They transfer Mike from his beloved homicide beat and assign him and a team of police rejects to the MERCURY RUN, which is a glorified park patrol. Mike and his crew have to monitor the goings on in this virtual reality website. Meanwhile, Mike is marked for death by the secret conspirators who control MERCURY.
